County boards approve 1969 budgets and levies
Two Jackson County towns voted final budgets and tax levies Monday. Brownstown set a 1969 levy of 2.41 dollars per hundred, Crothersville approved 2.05 dollars, unchanged from 1968. Medora was slated to meet but details were not learned. The county seat general fund rises 59 cents to 1.86, street fund up 15 cents to 55 cents. Budgets move to auditor Russell Goen for the state level review and county hearing set for September 9.

Appeals Board Cancels August Zoning Meeting
The Seymour board of zoning appeals cancels tonight’s August meeting in the planning and zoning room at city hall. Chairman Leo E. Owen said a continuance was requested by Seymour attorney Thomas R. Haley for Wesley R. and Edna R. Dixon’s variance petition. The next meeting is set for Sept. 24.

Local Men Sentenced in Jackson Circuit Court
In Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown Judge Jonathan J. Robertson sentenced two Seymour youths Freddie C. Bledsoe 21 and Earl E. Allman 18 after guilty pleas. Allman received two to five years for second degree burglary at the Variety Liquor Store while Bledsoe drew one to ten years for theft from Paul’s Place with suspensions and two years probation.
