Seymour OKs 1.90 Civil City Tax Levy for 1964
The Seymour common council approved a 1.90 civil city tax levy for 1964 over a protest by Councilman Harold E. Riley. The levy, based on 1963 valuations of 15,732,550, will be reviewed by the Jackson County board of tax adjustment and the Indiana state board before final approval. Councilman Riley planned a negative vote, arguing funds would be insufficient. Mayor Isaacs defended the measure.

Medora reduces its levy by 22 cents to 2.38 per 100 dollars net value with a 1500 dollar cut in the sewage utility under the general fund. Brownstown sets a 1.79 levy with 97 cents general fund and 82 cents street fund. Crothersville adopts 1.39 levy with 1.24 in the general fund.

Moritz Fails To Pass Bar Examination
Indianapolis reports Christopher D. Moritz Jackson County prosecutor failed the state bar exam. The state board announced 122 applicants passed the July exam. Moritz cannot be reached for comment. Jonathan J. Robertson continues as special prosecutor, paid $400 monthly from the prosecutor’s salary.

Brown Awards Contract For Sewer Project
Brownstown town board awarded a sewer line extension contract to A. E. Woods of Cross Plains after a low bid of 13 931.57. The project covers Severn addition and part of Wayman addition along U S 50 and Indiana 135. Construction will begin once bonds are sold. The 1964 budget was considered at the same meeting.
