Minister Louis Miller Dies at 104, Mt Vernon Veteran Pastor
The Rev. Louis Miller aged 104 died at his Mt Vernon home after a weeklong illness. Born 1829 in Alsace Lorraine he was ordained in 1857 by Bishop Simp son and served as German Methodist pastor in Indiana Ohio and Kentucky. His career included postings at Wallonia and several rural churches plus Cincinnati and Pomeroy Ohio before retiring in 1910.

Roads Treated for Weekend Traffic in Indiana Region
Surface treating of State Road 56 between Scottsburg and Salem should finish late today or Friday. U.S. Road 31 from the Jackson Bartholomew county line to two miles south of Columbus is completed and in excellent condition. Surface-treating of State Road 46 between Columbus and Nashville began today. Road 56 is expected to be ready for traffic within a day or two.

Fire in Jackson County Jail Cell Sparks Panic
Kenneth McDonald held in Jackson county jail at Brownstown on a burglary charge set his cell ablaze by spraying disinfectant and gasoline and tossing a match. The fire quickly filled the cell with flames and smoke before jailer Alva Reyburn freed him. A fire extinguisher saved him as two mattresses and bedding were ruined.
