Woman killed in Seymour city crossing crash
A car skidded into a railroad flasher at Fourth Street and Indianapolis Avenue injuring two and killing a former Jackson County woman, Thelma Garbett. Kenneth Ahlersmeyer, 40, faces charges as he was treated for injuries and held. He is alleged to have driven under the influence and reckless, with voluntary manslaughter planned. Funeral plans for Garbett are pending.

Hospital Treats Mishap Victims
Four people were treated in the Schneck Memorial Hospital emergency room for injuries from two separate mishaps Thursday. Carl Smith, 17, Browns Town, suffered back and chest pains from lifting a basket, released after X ray. Eugene Helton, 18, Austin, cut his right thumb at work, sutured and discharged. Katherine Brewer, 5, 611 Noble, injured left arm and wrist at home when another child fell on her, released. Bruce Justin Goings, 2, Chicago, splinter under toenail of right big toe, treated and released.

Local Girl Bitten By Dog Receives Treatment
A three year old Seymour girl was bitten on the lower lip while playing at a neighbor’s house. She was treated in emergency at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Bobby J. Mull, 618 Carter street, owner of the dog, was told to confine the animal for 14 days. Officer Maurice A. Rose Jr. investigated.

Fourteen Die In Indiana Road Toll In 24 Hours
Reported crashes across Indiana claim fourteen lives in less than a day. Morgan County wreck on Ind 67 killed two truck drivers and left four trucks tangled on a steep hill near Brooklyn. A separate fatal crash near Muncie killed four more, including two women. Other injuries and deaths followed in Seymour and Arcadia as state police investigated.

Three persons were injured in two local accidents Thursday and today. Dorena Stewart 18 of Norman Al was admitted to Schneck Memorial Hospital after a 12 20 a m crash on U S 50 eight miles west of Browns town. A fogged view led to loss of control and a guard rail collision causing a total wreck. Gertude Thomas 50 and Tony Vance 12 suffered facial and head injuries on West Second Street Road when a dog up front distracted the driver. The latter was cited for operating on a beginner s permit.

Highway Study Maps Route Around Monroe Reservoir
Indiana highway officials proposed a 36 mile extension from the reservoir area toward Indi 58 via Mau mee and Kurtz or to US 50 in Jackson County. Lost poodle found after fatal crash that killed Mrs. Wieder
A white six month old toy poodle missing since July 20 after a crash that killed Mrs. Katie H. Wieder of Seymour was found July 21 beneath a bridge on Interstate 65. Ray Smith, who found the dog, delivered it to Mrs. Jordan of Seymour and it has since been placed in a good home with Wieder’s friends.
