Brownstown Announces Elementary School Bus Routes
The Brownstown school system released pickup plans for Brownstown Elementary students on South Jackson. Nine buses will service routes from the Middle and High Schools to stops on Walnut Elm Spring and other streets, with kindergarten and special education to follow later and Owen township pupils transported from Clearspring at noon. Parents are urged to meet children at dismissal to ease traffic congestion.

Police and state officers seek Teresa Osborne an 18 year old from Crothersville missing since 5 30 p m Monday after leaving the Cake Box Bakery in Seymour with baked goods. She is 5 feet 3, 90 to 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She drove a 1965 four door Ford with plate 36B1132 and a Rose Acres sticker. Det Sgt James C Blevins leads the inquiry and asks sightings or information.

Welfare fraud charges filed against Crothersville couple
Russell Townsend and his wife Betty Townsend faced a preliminary hearing in Jackson Circuit Court on welfare fraud charges. Bond for Townsend was set at 500 dollars. he must obtain counsel within seven days while Betty Townsend was released on her own recognizance. The case alleges they received about 200 dollars monthly from September 1969 to February 1973 and failed to report a 1972 auto settlement and a 1972 grocery store purchase. Court officials say this may be Jackson Circuit Court’s first criminal welfare fraud case. No arraignment date set.

Seymour FFA Team Triumphs in Indiana State Tractor Contest
The Seymour FFA tractor troubleshooting team led by adviser Nelson Lewis won first place at the Indiana State Fair with 271 points out of 300. Tim Marshall Jim Waskom and Mike True powered the win in 12 minutes, besting 11 other FFA teams across Indiana. Franklin High School placed second with 216 points after 32 minutes.

Jackson County Council to Study Budget Funds
Jackson County council will meet September 4 and 5 at the Browns town courthouse to review a proposed budget and tax rate and discuss additional appropriations totaling 20 450. An amount of 15 300 is planned for cumulative bridge funds to repair and replace four bridges. The meeting begins at 9 a m in the county auditor's office.
