Paul Kranning and Paul Brackemyre display their homemade cannon replicas on St Louis avenue and East Laurel street. Brackemyre’s model uses 340 pieces of wood and steel, Kranning’s 210, with dimensions of 10 inches by 15 inches. What began as a gun barrel project for July Fourth evolved into two shootable, scrap-material cannons.

Warrants Issued For Child Cruelty In Seymour Case
Warrants were issued in Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown late this morning for a Seymour couple on charges of cruelty and neglect to children. The investigation, sparked by a tip, describes a 12-year-old boy restrained with a padlocked dog chain and an alleged beating of a 10-year-old girl. The home on Brown Street held three other children, ages 14, 12, and 10, with investigators saying the chaining was disciplinary.

Robert E. Fowler, 25, Morgan town, received a 20 year federal term for the July 31 1967 $200 robbery of the Wallonia branch of the Citizens State Bank of Brownstown. A federal jury found him guilty July 10.
