Fire started by trash burning causes Seymour alarm
An outbuilding was set ablaze by trash burning in an alley, triggering the Seymour fire department to 333 East street at 3:45 PM Monday. The residence owner is Jennie Thomas. Firemen quickly extinguished the blaze with little damage, marking the department’s first run in some time.

A number of residents not previously registered sought employment at the Vincennes Packing Corporation Seymour plant today. Lloyd W. Littell of the Indiana State Employment Service collected registrations at the city council chamber. He plans to stay Wednesday to allow unregistered applicants to sign up for factory work. The plant will hire through the state service as it ramps up for the canning season, with today and Wednesday seen as the last registration chances.
