Jackson County Fair Attendance Breaks Records in 1968
The 1968 Jackson County Fair shattered attendance records with 43 275 visitors on Friday and a total of 162 295 by Friday evening, surpassing last year. Grand Ole Opry star Faron Young drew an overflow crowd, parking was taxed, and Clyde Goble won the horseshoe event while Robert Hubbard and Charles Mull placed second and third in the double elimination tournament.

Rural Utilities Meet Set To Form Tax Exemption Group
A meeting of FHA funded rural utilities is scheduled for 7:30 p m Tuesday at the city building to form the Rural Water Association Inc. The group aims to push Indiana lawmakers to exempt FHA financed water systems and other utilities from gross income tax. Richard Andrew of Dupont Ind Water Co says the meeting is open to all FHA financed utilities and a nominating committee will appoint directors.

No Traffic On Parade Route For V J Day Parade
Police Chief Robert Gill announced traffic along the V J Day parade route would halt at noon on Sunday. Cars parked on the route must be removed, with officers posted from Bruce Street to Shields Park to enforce the ban. Spectators are urged to park at city lots or side streets, parade forms at Bruce Street, travels Chestnut Second Broadway Seventh, then enables traffic and parking after passage.

Plane crash injures Indiana congressman in Georgia
Indiana Congressman Richard L. Roudebush and five others were injured when their private plane crashed during a landing attempt at Pine Mountain Georgia. Roudebush suffered a fractured arm and dislocated hip. all six occupants were treated in fair condition.

St Paul Pastor to Take Post at St Paul UCC Tipton
The Rev Kenneth G Hendrix of Sunman will move his family near the end of this month to become pastor of St Paul United Church of Christ Tipton on Walnut and Tipton streets. He fills the vacancy left by Rev John D Dulin. Interim pastor Russell Kem merer previously served. Hendrix is native of Crawfordsville and currently serves St Johns Penntown and St Jacobs near Lawrenceville. He is a Crawfordsville High School graduate class of 1943.
