Austin Cyclist 14 Killed By Train in Austin Crossing
A 14 year old Austin youth was killed when he drove a motorcycle into a Pennsylvania Railroad train at an Indiana 256 crossing in downtown Austin at 11 40 p m Monday He died about 15 minutes after arrival at Scott County Hospital from a broken neck and double fracture of the collar bone The rider had been staying with his grandfather and rode a light weight cycle owned by a Scottsburg youth Witnesses said he failed to slow at the crossing and crossed a blinking signal before striking the engine The crash serves as the 13th crossing death in Scott County in 30 years and the 29th Pennsylvanian track fatality within Austin limits with authorities noting inexperience as a factor
