Three Jackson County towns Brownstown Medora and Crothersville filed proposed budgets and tax levies based on March 1 1973 net taxables. Boards will meet Aug 27 to adopt plans and forward results to the county tax adjustment board for review before final state approval.
Thirty-five Jackson County properties remain on the delinquent real estate tax list and eleven properties show delinquent Vernon Forks Conservancy District tax for 15 months or more. The article notes continued tax and assessment gaps awaiting resolution.
Jackson County plans a public auction at the courthouse door in Brownstown starting 10 a.m. Monday for 35 delinquent real estate and conservancy district tax parcels. Activities include an enlarged art show sponsored by Psi Iotari with ceramics and paintings, a flea market run by Don Warner, ham and bean dinner by the American Legion Auxiliary, and various concession stands by local groups. A princess contest, pet parade, square dances, a fashion show, and a giant parade at 2 p.m. Saturday highlight the festival. Free watermelons will be served.
The 1973 Patriot yearbook from Seymour High School, printed by American Yearbook Company in Clarksville Tennessee, is set for distribution at the school gym Monday Tuesday and Wednesday August 15. Distribution will require subscribers to use the northeast gym door and proxy pickup is allowed with names.
