Damage suit over child's death seeks 76000 dollars in damages
In Jackson Circuit Court James E. Edwards seeks 60000 from Jackie L. Donnell and 16000 from United Farm Bureau Insurance Co. for the death of his three year old son Timothy Brian in a April collision near Browns Town. Suspended sentence for juvenile burglary case in Indiana
Rickie Collins a 19 year old from Columbus pleaded guilty to entering to commit a felony and received a one year sentence at the Indiana state farm Putnamville which was suspended on the condition he remain in the Marine Corps. He was arrested in February with five juveniles for the burglary of the James Elkins residence on Ind 11 south of Seymour.

Jackson County Fair shows crowds for livestock and events
The Jackson County Fair features judging of poultry rabbits hogs and sheep with 4-H King Queen and Corp oration events and Dress Revue. Tonight Kovaz International Auto Daredevils attract crowd alongside Indiana feeder pig show and a five division tractor pull drawing about 1,400 attendees. Attendance totals reach 34,796 after two days as riders ride midway at reduced prices for children after 5 p.m.

Trial Date Set In Murder Case
Trial date is set for Sept 18 in Indianapolis for Beverly Jean Landers charged with first degree murder in the dismemberment slaying of her ex husband Felix E Robinson. Robinson’s torso with head arms and feet removed was found along Sand Creek. Police say the body was dismembered with a saw and the head bore two .22 caliber wounds. Mrs Landers 40 pleaded innocent at arraignment. Seymour state police post officers aided the investigation.

Grassy Fork Bridge plans move forward in Jackson County
Jackson County commissioners approved plans for a new steel and concrete bridge to replace County Bridge No. 148 on County Road 400 South in Grassy Fork township nine miles south of Seymour. Estimated cost is 44 996.64 funded by the bridge fund. The board also added 118 000 to the 1973 budget for a county ambulance service starting January 1, 1973.

One Hurt In Auto Crash On I 65 Frontage Road
State police investigated a two car crash at 9 p m Monday along the I 65 frontage road one mile south of U S 50. Robert St Louis 32 of North Vernon and Dennis Hamilton 17 of Seymour collided at a culvert injuring Sandra St Louis 28 a passenger. Damages were 700 and 500 dollars respectively with Hamilton cited for driving left of center.

City police launched a drive to collect unpaid tickets with letters sent to motorists who have two or more tickets since January. Owners are liable for overtime tickets and the payment window extended to August 16 at the standard $1 rate. late tickets may trigger city court summons.

Medora Considers 1973 Budget and Tax Levy
Medora plans a 1973 budget with a slight tax levy increase from this year. Clerk treasurer Austin H. Hook says the board will meet Aug 28 to review a proposed levy totaling $1.14 to raise $12,650. this contrasts with a 97 cent levy expected to bring in $4,735 this year. The $1.14 corporation levy funds a $1.10 general fund, two cent street fund, and two cent park levy. no fire fund levy is requested. The town currently has a 94 cent general levy, plus a two cent park levy and a one cent special fire tax.
