Peggy Isaacs, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Isaacs Seymour R, was crowned Jackson County Fair Queen after a record attendance of 25 698 across Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds. Therese Disque and Lydia Warren were runners up, with Nancy Gill named Miss Congeniality.

Sesqui Events Spice Fair Horse Shows Boosted by Sesquicentennial
Spiced with Sesquicentennial features and ideal weather, the 1966 Jackson County Fair saddle horse shows drew hundreds. Nearly 300 entries were registered, with 156 in the afternoon and 114 at night, as judges from Brownsburg and Jasper presided. The program included period costumes and old time vehicle hitch classes, plus a Psi Iota Xi chorus in Sesquicentennial dress. Trophies and memorial awards highlighted the day, which opened with a devotional and featured a Scott County Mounted Horse Patrol appearance.

Two Story Fall Injures Three In Seymour
Marsha Baurle fourteen month old daughter of Ron and Ald Baurle of Carter Street Seymour fell from a second story window Sunday. She was admitted to Schneck Memorial Hospital with a head injury for treatment and observation. Stanley Giles seventeen year old son of Merril Trapp Seymour R1 was admitted after being burned at a service station from spilled gasoline igniting trash. Mrs Rufus Hillenburg four years old Norman was admitted for observation after stepping on a soft drink bottle that rolled from beneath her foot causing a head injury. condition listed as fair.

Medora Town Sets Late August Start for Blacktop
The Medora Town Board announced the town streets will be blacktopped in the last week of August. Charles T. Plummer, president, spoke at the August meeting. The Ralph Rogers Company of Bloomington is contracted for the project. Water tower painting and lettering finished on schedule in July. Next board meeting is Saturday, Sept 3 at the town hall.

Tennessee physician killed in I-65 crash overpass plunge
A 44-year-old Nashville physician, Cleve W. Ewell M D, died instantly when his car plunged from an Interstate 65 overpass onto U S 50 near Seymour. Four family members were seriously injured including his wife Verla and three children. The Seymour post headed the investigation and described the fatal trauma and vehicle wreckage details.

CAP Holds Test Search Mission At Airport Here
The Indiana Wing Civil Air Patrol ran its annual Air Force graded search and test mission from Freeman Field. A simulated midair collision near Bunker Hill and Indianapolis prompted searches by CAP crews including Art Mitchell and observer Pat Paulsen. About 200 men participated statewide with 100 at Freeman Field, under Col. Frank Current and Lt. Col. Gene Gearing as coordinators.
