Authorities continue an investigation into the death of 75 year old Ella W Wolka found dead in her Wallonia residence in Starve Hollow. Police deputy coroner Burkholder and Dr David Adler report the autopsy shows suffocation as the cause with a nonfatal scalp bruise not linked to death. No definite suspects or clues have been revealed as of now.

Balloon Ascension At Fair By Flying Allen
At the Jackson County Fair the Lynch show will feature Captain Eddie Allen of the Flying Allens performing a balloon ascension and parachute jump from about 3 000 feet. The 58 year old daredevil has made over 4 000 jumps in 40 years with no chute failure. The 90 foot high balloon uses 1 100 yards of muslin and inflates in about 20 minutes. The ascent begins at 7 00 p m DST with a free fall jump and bag recovery.

Child Injured In Auto Crash Near Uniontown
A 10 year old girl Linda Huff suffered a fractured right arm when her mother Doris Huff’s 1949 coach collided with a 1950 sedan driven by Billy Staten near Uniontown on U S Road 31. Staten was fined for improper passing. In a separate incident a 1954 sedan driven by Larry Carmichael overturned on State Road 58 near Loyd Spurgeon, causing about 750 dollars in damage.

Four Year Old Found Sleeping After Missing Night

Frederick Burns and his son Jerry Lee were targets of an armed robbery at the Hilltop vegetable stand on U S Road 31 near Azalia. The suspects fled north on Road 31. one man described as 25 to 30, 160 pounds, light hair, blue shirt. the other six feet, 180 pounds, scar on cheek, khaki cap. Two men later detained in Shelbyville were released after Burns could not identify them.

A juvenile confessed a Saturday night burglary near Freetown at the George McElfresh farm home three and a half miles south on State Road 135. The break in occurred between 7 and 9 pm while the residents were at church. $5 was taken and the attacker removed a door screen to gain entry.

Serious Vehicle Crash Near Salem Involves Seymour Youths
Two cars collided head-on two and a half miles north of Salem on State Road 135. Seymour youths Ronnie Gerth Dean Davidson and Johnnie Brooks escaped serious injury. Olin and Mrs. Hardy of Bloomington also avoided major harm. All treated and released at Washington County Hospital. Mrs. Hardy reportedly lost control, her 1955 car veered into a ditch then collided with Gerth’s 1950 sedan. Hardy vehicle overturned struck a tree and caught fire. The Seymour youths were en route to races in Salem.
