The Seymour Civic Association reports 69,288 July participants in its programs. Rockford Beach hosted 5,100 supervised by Paul Steinkamp and Bonita Collins with aide from Luther Morris. Gaiser Park saw 37,500 spectators at industrial softball led by Albert Judd. About 5,000 attended programs at Shields and Gatser Parks under Cornelia Bade DeWitte Ogan and Walter Surface with WPA help. Tennis at city courts drew 320 players. Elimination tournaments underway for adult championships. City playgrounds ran 9–12 am and 2–4 pm five days a week with a range of games and activities. Community Night programs, led by Francis Murray, continue through August.

Parking enforcement yields no arrests on first enforcement day
City officers reported no arrests on the first day of parking enforcement after a week of operations. A large Friday night crowd and more cars appeared, but the parking situation was better than recent Fridays and no fines were issued for infractions this morning.
Three Arrests Reported For Reckless Driving And Plates
Three men were arrested on a curve on U S Road 31 near Columbus for reckless driving. The group includes Rev William H Langley Jr of Louisville and Robert S Phillips of Wauwatosa both fined five dollars plus costs. Emmanuel Strauss of Salem Indiana also fined five dollars and costs. Wilber Langley of Seymour was fined for improper license plates.

Soybeans Reach Peak On Market In Drought County
Local soybeans yield 25 to 35 percent of normal as heat and dry weather reduce production. Prices in Chicago were around 1.58 a bushel with beans selling locally at 80 cents to 1.15. Wheat and corn markets show lower cash prices, while seed beans dominate the local crop. The Chicago Journal of Commerce notes scarce loans, mid stocks, and uncertain new harvest amid high prices.
