Fifteen Freight Cars Derail Near Seymour Injures No One
At about 6 30 p m Tuesday fifteen of twenty five freight cars derailed two miles north of Seymour near the White River bridge. Two gondolas with coal and three boxcars were demolished. Trains were halted on the Indianapolis to Louisville line as wreck crews cleared the track. No injuries were reported and damage estimates were unavailable.

Attendance at the 1968 Jackson County Fair rose to a record high with 68,756 visitors by Tuesday night, boosted by 4-H events and a sold out International Auto Dare Devils show. April Waggoner was crowned 4-H Queen, and Duane Darlage 4-H King left for Air Force service. Frank Sinatra Jr. headlined the Thursday grand stand along with other attractions.

The Seymour Community High School Building Corp will receive bids for 4.75 million dollars in first mortgage bonds to finance a new high school facility at the Administration Building in Seymour Indiana. Bonds mature 1972 through 1986 with various redemption premiums. If bids fail Sept 5 a continued sale may occur.

Max E. Sims, 43, Indianapolis, pleaded guilty in Jackson Circuit Court to reckless homicide. Judge Jonathan J. Robertson scheduled sentencing for August 23 after a pre sentence investigation. The case stems from a March 8 interstate collision on I 65 near Seymour that killed Thomas L. Whitecotton.
