Heart Attack Fatal for Harry Thompson
Harry Thompson, 52, of Seymour, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon in a tomato field of Edwin Hillebrand. Death followed a brief illness due to heart disease. Funeral services are set for Thursday at the Azadia Friends Church with Rev. Walter officiating. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery, with calling hours at his brother Burnie Thompson in Seymour.

Fire damages car upholstery on Chestnut Street
Firefighters responded to a morning car fire on Chestnut Street near Tipton Street. Max Thompson parked his coach, noticed smoke from the front seat cushions, and drove to City Hall where flames were put out. Thompson found a crushed box of matches between the seat sections, suggesting ignition occurred when the seat was pushed back while he was away.

Sturgeon Funeral Rites Held in Indianapolis
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Indianapolis for Mrs. John V. Sturgeon age sixty five of Indianapolis formerly of Tampico. She died at St Vincent's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Kentucky she moved with her husband to Jefferson County in 1803 later living in Jackson County before moving to Indianapolis. Survivors include three sons Alvin L. Sturgeon Charles Byron Sturgeon and Frank L. Sturgeon of Indianapolis three sisters Mrs A H Morawieh Maplewood NJ Mrs A C Roach Houston Texas and Mrs C J Cronan Louisville Ky and two brothers Frank A Hamel Louisville Ky and J T Hamel El Paso Texas.

County youths enter Jackson County fair judging contests
Jackson county boys and girls will compete in two judging events next Tuesday August 13 at the county fair. The morning livestock judging starts at 9 with entries in draft horses beef cattle swine and sheep and reasons required. A 1 30 dairy judging contest will judge cattle and require four classes with reasons if requested. A Purdue supervised district judging contest with teams from eight counties will run concurrently, selecting district winners to advance to the Indiana State Fair livestock judging on August 31.
