Seymour Teams Dominate Fair Combo Contest At Jackson County
Attendance at the 1968 Jackson County Fair rose with 18 115 entrants on Monday lifting three day totals near last year. The International Auto Daredevils and Professor Backwards acts were billed for midweek crowds while a FFA cow milking contest crowned Chester Meisberger as winner. Seymour combos led the top placing in the annual Combo Clash with The Other Sighed winning first and The Syndicate of Soul second.

Max Sims Trial Starts Wednesday
An Indianapolis man, Max E. Sims, 43, faces reckless homicide charges in a Jackson County case stemming from a March 8 interstate crash near Seymour that killed Thomas L. Whitecotton, 21, and injured three others. The trial in Jackson Circuit Court was set after a jury demand.

Wreck on U. S. 50 Injures Bedford Youth and Data on Indictment
A Bedford youth, Stephen C. Pearson, 15, suffered severe facial and head lacerations and other pains after a two car crash on U S 50 near Seymour. Investigating trooper lists Robert J. Werskey 16 Seymour RI at fault for crossing center line. First aid was given at the scene by Wendell Hicks. No charges reported yet. Indictment returns against Charles W. Adams 23 Huntington for first degree murder and kidnapping in a separate case.

Ike Has New Pains In Chest
Washington AP Dwight D. Eisenhower, recovering from a heart attack, suffered renewed chest pains early today. Walter Reed Army Hospital said the episode appeared to be another myocardial infarction. At 10 a.m. EDT his condition was stable and he was comfortable and free of pain. The attack occurred at 6:15 a.m. Monday morning.

Gas Explosion Damages Tipton Street Service Station
An explosion at the Brown Marathon Service Station on Tipton street and Broadway caused unknown damage and a small fire at the vent. Tank truck driver Paul Ross quickly used a dry chemical extinguisher to quell flames from gasoline vapors. Fire Chief Glen E Haley noted high heat and humidity with fumes likely igniting around the vent as tanks were being filled.
