The Jackson County Fair opens tonight for a nine night run hailed as the biggest and best ever. Nineteen tents rise on the fairgrounds to house overflow exhibits from three industrial buildings plus the Women’s Building and farm facilities. Ferlin Husky and his Hush Puppies perform at 8 15 p m tonight with Johnny’s United Shows on the midway as crowds gather for a week of events including saddle horse shows Sunday and a grandstand program featuring a combo contest and cheerleading.

Doves Banding Project Ends In Indiana After Three Weeks
U S Game Management agent F Charles Kniffin and his wife ended a three week dove banding effort at Freeman Field Indiana. They trapped 1215 Eastern mourning doves in 55 baited wire traps to study mortality and kill distribution for regional dove management. The project runs 1964 to March 31 1967 under national and regional dove committees.

Trooper Shoots Dogs After Sheep Killed in Seymour
Mrs. Elma Montgomery reported three stray dogs attacked her flock on U S 31 near Seymour. Trooper Charles E. Conrad Sr. shot two of the dogs with a 12 gauge, one in the front yard and one on a road. a Beagle escaped into nearby woods.
