North Vernon Man Struck by Car on U S Road 50
Leo Plummer 22 of North Vernon, a construction crew worker, was injured this morning near Haydor on U S Road 50. He suffered a slight brain concussion and bruises after a car driven by Dorothy Wagoner of Osgood collided with him while surveying. Wagoner and two passengers were en route home to Osgood and could not avoid the impact. Plummer was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Plane crash survivor recounts lifeboat escape
Belleville Ont August 6 An airplane passenger used the plane as a life raft after a forced down in Lake Ontario. Terry McGovern a parachute jumper was rescued from the wings by boatmen and said the pilot Gerry Fitton drowned while attempting to swim ashore. The crash occurred about a mile off shore as they headed to Toronto. The engine fell away, leaving the craft buoyant. McGovern clung to the plane while Fitton tried to swim and was unable to reach shore.
