Holly Smith Crowned Queen of 1968 Jackson County Fair
Holly Smith of the Lake and Forest Club was named 1968 Jackson County Fair Queen at the Saddle Horse Show finale before about 1300 spectators. She will be a Brownstown Central High School senior and has ties to the Psi Iota Xi sorority and various school activities. Runner ups were Ronda Miller and Ann Schlehuser with ties to Seymour and local organizations.

Two Area Accidents Kill One Injure Six
A Seymour area crash on Ind 46 west of Gnawbone killed Mary Ann Maberry 45 and injured four others including her husband and two children. A second I-65 crash near Seymour left two young men with severe injuries and lacerations. Funeral plans for Maberry set for Tuesday in Greenwood.

Trail Ride Opens Largest Afternoon Show at Jackson County Fair
149 riders join the Indiana Saddle Horse Association trail ride led by James Lee Craig, forming the largest class to date. The event opened the Saddle Horse Show with 349 entries in the afternoon competition and 432 total entries when night shows are included. Columbus Trail Blazers Club took a trophy for most entries with 13 members. winners and participants span Brownstown, Seymour, Salem, Crothersville and other area towns.

Browns town man kills two timber rattlers on homeland farm
Lester E Greathouse of Brownstown shot and killed two 43 inch timber rattlesnakes on his Berry Ridge Road farm four miles north of Houston Sunday around 1130 am. He was accompanied by his brother Ifford when the reptiles were found. The female had eight rattles and a button while the male had six rattles and a button.
