Edwin Lyskowinski Named SHS Principal for 1973-74
Edwin Lyskowinski, longtime Seymour High School social studies teacher, was named SHS principal for the 1973-74 school year. The Seymour Community Schools board approved the appointment Tuesday night, and Lyskowinski will start duties Monday August 13.

Brownstown Man Appointed Jury Commissioner
A Brownstown man, James William Butt, was appointed by Judge Robert R. Brown to fill the unexpired term of the late George W. Kloppenburg on the Jackson County board of jury commissioners. Butt will serve through 1973 alongside Leland R. Bundy. The panel meets the last week of each quarter to select jurors.

Seymour man dies after industrial plant accident
A 23 year old Seymour man, David Baurle, died en route to Methodist Hospital after being struck in the stomach by a board discharged from a Swain Industries sander. The foreman was near a halted machine when it restarted and a hold down failed. Baurle, a three shift foreman at Swain, had worked there five years and lived in Seymour most of his life. He was survived by Brenda Jent Baurle, twin sons Timothy and Thomas, daughter Tammy, his father Ralph W. Baurle, and two brothers John and Larry. He was born February 3, 1950 in Indianapolis.

The Indiana state highway commission invites bids on 20 projects across the state, with two in Seymour. Bids are due by 10 a m on Tuesday August 21 and opened publicly in the state office building. Juveniles Assigned To Work Detail At County Fairgrounds
Seven youths faced in Brownstown juvenile court with five ordered to work details at the county fairgrounds. A 16-year-old Seymour youth received a continuance on assault and battery charges. Three 16-year-olds from Seymour pleaded guilty to marijuana possession and were placed on one year probation with a three day fairgrounds work detail. A 17-year-old Seymour youth facing curfew was placed on probation and assigned to the fairgrounds for three days.
