Youth Dies After Baseball Injury Near Seymour
Eugene Nicholas Deppert aged eighteen died Monday afternoon after being struck in the head with a thrown baseball during a barnlot game near Seymour R1 in the Sculphur Springs area. Authorities attributed death to a cerebral hemorrhage probably caused by the blow. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 2 PM from Ore Sweet’s home with Rev. R. S. Wilson officiating. burial in Riverview Cemetery.

Bedford Youth Hurt In Train Fall Near Seymour Power Plant
Lloyd Robbins twenty of Bedford suffered facial injuries after falling from a tank car on an eastbound Baltimore and Ohio freight near the Pub lic Service Company of Indiana power plant in Seymour. He was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital by city police. Teammate Talmage Butler seventeen of Bedford witnessed the fall but could not exit the moving train until signals slowed near Walnut street. Butler found Robbins injured again after descending the embankment. Robbins is the son of John Robbins of Bedford. The two youths said they were en route to Hope Indiana to find tomato picking work.

L S Sweany 83 Dies After Yearlong Illness
Lewis Scott Sweany aged 83 formerly of Seymour died in Indianapolis Monday night at 7 30 pm after a year long illness due to multiple diseases. He was born May 22 1856 in Jackson County the son of Moses and Emily Sweany. He married Agnes E Krieger January 1 1892 who died December 22 1937. A daughter Mrs Gertrude Beardslee of Miami Florida and sister Mrs Ressa Grunig of Los Angeles survive. A son M P Sweany and brother Leverett Sweany are deceased. Funeral plans not set.

One thousand fish were added today to White River, shipped from Avea state fish hatchery in Lawrence county to Jackson county. Roy Underwood and Phillip Crecelius oversaw eight plantings of 125 fish each using Indiana state department’s new transport truck. The vehicle carries 350 gallons of water, runs water through a filter to oxygenate it, and can hold 30 000 fish at once. Temperature for bass stayed below 70 degrees during transport.

Bandit Robs Auburn Bank Steals About $9,000
A bandit armed with a revolver entered the Auburn State Bank before noon and threatened cashier John Haggarty. After the cashier ducked behind the counter the man seized roughly $5,000, then fled in a waiting automobile. Haggarty's quick check totaled about $9,000.
