Busy Valdez court term yields few trials

The Valdez term opened on short notice with lawyers unable to bring witnesses. The murder case against Jacob B. Bailey is set for next Monday. The term was called by Judge Wickersham at the attorney general’s urging. Juneau term set for April 8, with Valdez adjournment around April 1. The grand jury expects to finish by Saturday night amid several Seward cases and a decision favorable to the Alaska Central railroad in the Koppeland case. Judge Wickersham remains popular among local lawyers.
