Steamer Santa Clara, Capt. Scha, reached port with 24 cabin and 67 steerage passengers and tons of freight for the railroad and Seward merchants. Voyage was pleasant despite fog in the inside passage. sailing resumed southward Monday afternoon. The vessel carried 135 passengers for the Tanana to Valdez, with cabin crowded and others sleeping on blankets in hulls and around the smokestack. Reservations are sold far ahead. The Santa Ana was nearly sold out as Santa Clara sailed.

Santa Ana Reaches Port and Sails West on Dora Run

Santa Ana reached port yesterday at 4 PM and sailed west at 2 PM on the Dora's run to engage missing steamer and aid cutter Rush in the Dora search. Capt. F S Moore commands, eight first class passengers for Seward, ten westward, and 214 tons of general merchandise for the railroad. Voyage from Seattle, left February 6. Also notes Esperanto invented in Boston and Virginia's $150,000 Jamestown exposition appropriation.

Plans for extensive railroad building in Cook Inlet region

Detailed 1905 1906 survey and construction plans for a vast Seward to Fairbanks railroad corridor led by General Poland aim to reach mile 200 and beyond. Projections include multiple locating parties, tunnel work, coal field access, and a high labor force with up to 3000 men, moving vast quantities of material toward Cook Inlet by summer 1906 and completing phases by 1908 under heavy funding and logistic buildup.

Seward Construction to Erect Two Story Block on Fifth Avenue

The Seward Construction and Development Company plans a 24 by 50 foot two story block on the east side of Fifth avenue below Adams street. Ground floor to house offices and shop work. second floor to provide rented office rooms. W. J. Stone and J. D. Sheldon incorporated the firm to run a general construction business in Seward. The company will use Mi Pressed Stone Company cement blocks for building. Plans for the Bank of Award cement building at Adams and Fourth are to be completed tomorrow with contracts let soon.

Big Seward Hotel Planned by Seattle Builder

W. J. Kennedy of Seattle plans a three story hotel on the southwest corner of Fourth and Adams streets in Seward. He will begin in March, occupy by early summer, leasing the two 60 by 100 foot lots from Capt. Schage. The building will nearly cover the lots, with exact dimensions not yet set.
