Boston reports 156 dead after the Larchmont collided with a schooner off Long Island. Many froze in open boats in zero temperatures as the liner sank in seven minutes. Survivors claim women were left in panic to perish.
Seattle reports 1000 sacks of mail backlog at the post office after trains were delayed by a snow blockade. The backlog is described as the worst in history and recovery could take weeks without extra help. Passenger trains are returning to schedule while freight and Alaska orders face shortages.
Cable from Seattle reports mail blockades filling the alley behind the post office with 2000 sacks of undistributed first class mail.
