Whittier and Lassen Koch party from Iowa State Teach head to Cedar Falls for a Thursday evening event. Attendees from Qycen Merion include Miss Dorothy Jassem, Andrew Lassen, and several couples. A Springville contingent lists Mr. En Mos and others. The group plans a Chicago ball game trip and fishing in Canada. Two younger children stay with Springville grandparents. Mrs. Francis Oxenruter visits from Iowa City, and Rodney Knight visits while Verne Knights attend a picnic in Delhi. About 50 Minish relatives gather at George Minish home with guests from California, Wyoming and Illinois. Arch ie Minish family mourns Albert T. Minish funeral at Geneseo church. Community Ladies Aid meets Aug 20. annual dinner and bazaar Sept 17. Danville Indiana visitors and extended family plan trips to Galesburg and West Branch. Iowa Friends Yearly Meeting in West Branch draws Whittier attendees. Friends Sewing Society met at Alfred Watson home.
Arthur Hoge spent days in a Ge dar Rapids hospital for observation. Phillip Schroeder and two California children visited Ralph Pearson. Fay Isham and Amelia Shultz of Marion called on Mrs. Martha Hood. Elwwood Shaw of Denver visited Whittier relatives and attended the Iowa Yearly Meeting in West Branch. Frank Watson and family attended Sharon Watson and John Doyle’s Cedar Rapids wedding. Bob Cheates and two children visited Edith Ellyson and family in Cedar Rapids. Emmet Hoge attended Cecil Haworth Edward Harwith wedding in Pulaski. Mrs. Wallace Dieckmas visited George Minish in Waterloo. Sunday dinner guests at Andrew Gunderson included Avis Silhiamer, Mrs. Eliz Husted, Lloyd Berry of Newhall, and Floyd Baumgartner family from Cedar Rapids.
Viola residents hosted and attended multiple small gatherings around birthdays and family events this week. Notable visits included Connie Newlin returning from Austin Minnesota and various relatives visiting Fosnight Davis households, with anniversaries celebrated at the REA building in Anamosa and trips to nearby towns for extended family reunions.
Journal notes from Springville area include church schedule at Springville Methodist with union services at the Presbyterian church and vacation church school August 17-21 and 24-28. Obituary for George Washington Kuntz aged 92 notes birth in 1866 in Greenfield township and long Linn County farming life, with survivors in Monticello and Lisbon.
The Altar and Rosary Society held an August 5 meeting at St Patrick’s Auaiorum. Officials scheduled the annual tailcuren dinner for September 12 and high scores were won by Mrs Chrigue Bolana and Mrs William Harrington in five hundred. Te Launch was served by hostesses including Mrs David Shiwamara and others.
The couple, son of Henry Pitlick and spouse, were wed at 9 30 AM in St John’s Catholic Church Lisbon. A reception dance followed that evening to honor the newlyweds.
Mrs Wiliam E Kearns 1047 4th Ave Marion died Friday August 7 at a Cedar Rapids hospital Born Nelle Sawyer May 10 1887 Central City She moved to Marion with her parents and married here October 27 19 She is survived by a daughter Katharine Wallace two sons George P Kerns and Robert L Kerns three grandchildren and a brother Louis Sawyer Memorial services were held Saturday at Murdoch Chapel Rev Ralph Baker officiating Interment Cedar Memorial Park
On Blairs Ferry road west of Hiawatha a one car crash Saturday afternoon injured two Marion men. Jerald Dreismeier, 24, driver, suffered lacerations and abrasions. Steven Viers, 21, passenger, had a laceration, possible head injury and possible ankle fracture. Dale Harms, 33, of Marshalltown, was killed with a broken neck.
Laurence Beckett, longtime Cedar Rapids NAA member, wrote a manuscript titled Using Value Groups in Cycle Counts published in the August NAA Bulletin. He serves on Collins Radio Co internal staff, chairs Marion planning and zoning, and is an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Marion.
Marion will be represented in the art salon at the Iowa state fair in Des Moines from August 28 to September 6, where entries announced by fair officials include Mrs. Maria K. Gerstman of 488 7th Street Marion with four works across oil tempera and watercolor sections, featuring Sunday Service at St Josephs Indian Summer What Stays in Your Memory and Contrasts.
Several women from the Lutheran church of the Resurrection in Marion will attend the biennial convention of the Women's Federation of the Iowa district of the American Lutheran church at Wartburg College in Waverly on August 18 and 19. Mrs Walter Reinsch leads the Bible Study group.

JP Court judge M H Biddick and Justice Ray Kutcher in Oxford oversee nighttime speeding cases. Edwin Dvorak of Fairfax also fined for night speed, Arnold Reader of 1155 12th St. $5 for stop sign violation, Charles Turril of New Sharon $14 for night speeding, Cyril Kerber of Cedar Rapids $10, Glenn Mitchel of Iowa Falls fined $10 for prohibited passing, Larry Henkes of Cedar Rapids $10 for prohibited passing.
