First claim filed under new dog damage law in Newg County
Mary A. Alexander of near Dunkerton filed the first damage claim under the new dog injury law. A dog owned by Fremont Story killed two mature bronze turkeys and twenty nine young birds on September 11. Values total 20.92 dollars. The fund will cover seventy one percent of damages, paid from the domestic animal fund once created by the county treasurer. The board will review the claim at the next meeting, but funds cannot be paid until July when the fund exists.

Last Friday in Mt. Vernon the Waterlo o W. C. T. U. held its final meeting before departure at Mrs. Bullie Ferris home on West Fourth Street. About forty ladies attended and officers were elected, with treasurer Mrs. A. J. Edwards becoming president and Mrs. Elizabeth Gravatte as treasurer. Delegates were named to the state convention at Council Bluffs. the district honored Frances Willard’s memorials and discussed funds for Chicago willard temple and other projects.

Another Hospital Wagon Arrives For Des Moines Service
Hileman and Gindt unload a new hospital ambulance ordered in April from an eastern firm. The silver gray wagon features superior springs for smooth rides and a cot hung on springs. The outfit will be used for patient transportation between homes and hospitals, with Waterloo set to have two such vehicles. Built for Hileman and Glout per their design, it went into service Monday afternoon. State Railroad Commissioners Winnett and Rate Expert Powell of Nebraska, newly back in Lincoln, studied grain rate data gathered in Des Moines.

Alpine deaths hit yearly Alpine toll record
