Collins Charged With Horse Theft In Iowa County

A man identified as Collins, accused of stealing horses in Vinton and Benton counties, was taken to Vinton for charges after a police court hearing in Waterloo. Authorities say he rented isolated barns, stocked them with grain, used locks and a flashlight, and moved horses at night, sometimes fleeing with the team. Juhl, who shoed a horse tied to the stolen team, identified Collins as the suspect. Collins refused to talk, and deputies found barn keys and a loaded revolver on him.
