James Dewar dies after coal gas poisoning tragedy
The Waterloo incident left James Dewar dead after a long struggle of over forty hours following coal gas inhalation on Monday night. His sister and Miss Lela Simmerson survived. Mrs Forbes remained ill. Dewar, a Scotland native born November 11 1857, lived on farms near Dunkerton and Barre led a civic life as Barclay township school board president and township trustee. Funeral services are scheduled at the United Presbyterian church with burial in Barclay township.
