Water franchise talks near final draft in Waterloo council
Waterloo officials from the Board of Trade Chamber of Commerce city council and the water company met to finalize changes to the artesian water franchise. They discussed section 4 14 16 and 23 and agreed on a public accounting publicity clause and a meter inspector role with biannual book reviews. The plan includes an artesian supply if feasible and guarantees the river main in fire emergencies with a 24 hour seal closure. Public acceptance appears likely as the committee’s report was adopted unanimously though the mayor and two aldermen abstained.
