Naked incendiary woman fails in tenement torch bid

A naked woman named Helen Brauer, 33, directed by a man, attempted to set a hallway blaze in a five story tenement. The man escaped. she was captured and taken to Bellevue hospital. Fire caused no major damage.

A fire at the Erstine Reed boarding house on Missouri Avenue in St Louis killed three women including Jewel Reed who died rescuing others and severely injured an elderly woman who jumped from a window.
