In Chicago on November 30 a Secret Service officer arrested Gustave Bayer and Henry Michael after two men flooded Milwaukee avenues and businesses with counterfeit $5 bills totaling $3,000. A recorded telephone message urged officers to come to a named meeting place, prompting the arrest at the Federal building.
A dispatch reports Haitien government admits rebels hold Miragoane and a strategic bridge near Port au Prince. K 53d Iowa National Guard with a grand ball and reception to follow, attended by numerous state National Guard officers. Engineer Ed White, a Dubuque freight division employee, is noted for expert rabbit hunting on trips, carrying a small calibre revolver on stops along the line.
Testimony in the government pursuit to dissolve Standard Oil details a simple method of property holding through the 1882 trust. Archbold testified that capital stock was 3.5 million while plant values reached 70 million, created to unite property across states under centralized administration.

A famous silk thief, Harry Rogers of St Paul, arrested at Chicago’s Illinois Central station as he prepared to depart with a suitcase full of silk. Detectives traced him from two suspicious grips to the depot, recovering fifty yards of silk and a tailored cloak. Rogers denies the crime while a woman companion is held for investigation.
A November 30 blaze at St. John’s Catholic college in Berl Ontario destroyed two wings and caused an estimated loss of 340,000. Several students escaped in their night clothes, with one badly burned while aiding others in fighting the fire.

Mrs Thos Dunkerton formerly Lucy McIntosh of Lester township dies after a brief heart neuralgia illness in Dunkerton at age 62. Survived by husband five children and two sisters Anna McIntosh mother resides in Dunkerton. Funeral Tuesday at 3 30 from the Methodist church with interment in the local cemetery.

In Austin a murder trial opened this morning with Charles E. Davis called and a jury secured. The defense planned by Dayig attorneys will argue that Dr Frederick Austin, charged with murder, faced personal crisis and that he may have killed himself. Court was crowded as proceedings began.
Guy Hough was accidentally shot while rabbit hunting Sunday afternoon. He was crawling through a fence and pulling his gun when it discharged, the bullet entering his neck and causing instant death. He had married about a year ago and his death shocked many friends in the state. Minneapolis, Nov. 40. Shercliffe, a noted desperado with many aliases, faces trial for the North Pacific train robbery at North town Junction in April. He was arrested in Knoxville after Colorado and Minnesota sought extradition. the case stems from Owen Ball’s confession naming Shercliffe as the partner.
