A severe cloudburst flooded an Oklahoma town near the Canadian River south of the capital suburb. Seven people are missing with reports of possible drownings as residents fled lowlands. Earlier heavy rain drove the river higher endangering properties in Oklahoma City.
Pittsburg stock broker A H Boris falls for Jennie Donahue a Hotel Metropole waitress. They plan marriage once her wedding gown is finished, amid Pennsylvan ia financial circles noting her roots in Jacksonville Florida and Rock Island Illinois. In separate report a sidewalk collapse in a Pennsylvania town injures nine women and three children at a five and ten cent store opening. One woman is seriously hurt as thirteen people are carried down by the fall and debris.
A domestic and a young girl died when a servant trying to hasten a stove flame spilled oil and caused a massive explosion in Bluffs. The Blast sent burning liquid over the bath. the victims were the Stirling child and a household helper. April 20.

Edward T Cowin aged near 60 died at 8:46 am at 527 Franklin Street Waterloo after a two year battle with progressive muscular atrophy. Funeral Wednesday at his home at 3:00 pm. He directed city affairs, helped plant curbing and trees, advocated Chautauqua park, and supported Waterloo’s growth. He practiced law here since 1870 after starting in Omaha with his brother General John C Cowin.
Edward T. Cowin a longtime organizer and official in Waterloo business and civic groups died at home on 637 Franklin street Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 500 oclock from Grace Methodist church with Rev E D Hull officiating Burial will be in Fairview cemetery He was survived by a widow Mrs Ria T Cox Cowin a son Rhea N Cowin a daughter Miss Trene Cowin two brothers and two sisters and was active in Grace M E church Knights of Pythian Masons and Grand Army of the Republic His career included work with the Waterloo Board of Trade the Waterloo Improvement Company and the Waterloo Building and Loan association as well as a major role in local developments and enterprises.
Mia Rose E Moore aged thirty one wife of Luke Moore died at the family home 183 Manson Street Sunday evening at 11 15 from pneumonia She was born in Dubuque County Iowa and lived in Waterloo two years The funeral likely Wednesday at 8 00 AM with arrangements in Independence today Relatives are in Independence for burial plans
A Waterloo man identified as W. G. Smith married Miss Josephine G. Fayle in Muscatine Iowa on a Saturday evening. The couple, now back in Waterloo, plan a new home soon as friends react to the hush hush wedding.
Jesse Gray and Alvah Elliott, two Brandon youths who ran away a month ago with a horse, were found in Cleveland. Gray was run over by a street car and died. The boys came from prominent local families. their father and cousin departed for Cleveland after word of the death.
Oelwein in April 28 report claims tool check No 34 at Bond bar Hazelton pointed to burglars who cracked a bank safe last week. Later details reveal the clue was false as two young men from big city near Hazelton were seen with two sisters and returned to Bond residence. One watch and other items were recovered from a barn but the check remained missing.
Frank Gannon of West Union pleaded guilty in the district court at West Water to adultery committed in Oelwein. Judge Hobson sentenced him to two years in the penitentiary. Mrs. Gannon and her young son attended court as witnesses.
Joseph Menzell a 33 year old carpenter employed by contractor Robert Ney died Sunday morning after hanging himself in his cellar. He quit his job in sympathy with a mill strike and was rejected when seeking reinstatement on Saturday. He left a wife and three children. Elephen Howard, president of the Iowa and Northwestern road, is in Chicago on business and expected back to Waterloo. Jubilee Singers perform at Brutt church.
