Block Systemios Payroll On Division Change Made
Manual Block System has beer in operation for over three years between here and Freeport. Instructions from Chicago say the manual block system on the Miracle Central between Fraegort and Waterloo will be abolished on April 15. This will reduce Dubuque operators by twenty seven. Expansion blamed on new laws limiting continuous work hours for operators. System began about three years ago in Dubuque division and was to extend to Fort Dodge and Omaha, but expansion was postponed. Last summer it reached Cedar Falls. West Belt station erected, will be vacated after the 16th. The system aimed to improve safety with few collisions aside from derailments, justifying the extra cost due to operator need.
