Charlesworth era style notice celebrates Thomas J. Sheldon and Henrietta Majors Sheldon on their 50th anniversary in 1905. The couple, early Hardin County settlers, are surrounded by nine children and relatives and have lived in Eldora since 1892. It notes his Ohio birth, Gold Rush era move, and a life devoted to community, with all children now grown and many still in Eldora. A store invitation at Hole's closes the piece.
A holiness meeting begins December 1 at 7 30 pm at the El Dora Presbyterian Church. Henry Biseis and singers assist under the Hidora Holiness Association auspices. The public is invited and welcome to attend in this delightful Holiness gathering.
In Eldora a major nuisance trial ended with Martin L Hatlestad of Radcliffe found guilty of illegal liquor sales. Over thirty witnesses testified as jurors debated the indictment and date discrepancies, with evidence spanning two years andarm not fewer than several nuisance charges. The minimum fine is 300, and no permits remain in Eldora or much of the county.
Twenty members gathered for a six o'clock dinner at Ellis D. Robb's home with Mrs. Robb as hostess. The social evening featured an amusements segment where members answered questions in a guessing contest and Mrs. Gréer won first prize, a book by John Kendrick Bangs.
Frank and Nathan Rainsbarger of Hardin county seek legislative pardons for a 1884 murder tied to Enoch Johnson, with their claims citing innocence and prejudice. The case, once opposed by the murdered victim’s wife, spurred public scrutiny. additional petitions from seven others are anticipated.

Poultry men urged to bring birds to the Eldora New Store every Wednesday for the highest market price. The notice promises fair handling and emphasizes the midweek poultry day with a prompt market quote and friendly service.
A Des Moines special reports final state census figures for January 1, 1905. Iowa's population is 2,210,338 with males 41,803 and females 2,? The text notes an excess of 54,517 males over females, a census surprise, and only 14,831 Negro residents statewide. Monroe County houses 3,373 Black residents, many in mining, while Polk County has 2,652.
Ellsworth College School of Commerce is now one of the strongest in Iowa due to new equipment strong faculty and a varied course lineup. It offers preparatory courses short three month business courses and complete programs including shorthand and typewriting. New students are entering weekly.
The Congregational church ladies announce a rummage sale in a vacant south side square room starting Wednesday November 8 and running all week. Those with clothing vegetables or other items to donate who cannot transport them should notify Mrs. Hardin or Mrs. Harry Ward, who will arrange pickup. A coal burner is for sale, and generous patronage is requested.
Court proceedings list multiple cases with verdicts and actions. John Leptey of Gifford found not guilty of malicious mischief after allegedly breaking Riley Craig's plate glass storefront with a bench. Other matters include Robinson cases on lewdness adultery and rape continued by agreement, Haase vs Morton motion rulings, and various estate actions with final reports, bond closures, and maintenance awards. A Hubbard clothing store breaking and entering case and a Swartza nuisance case were also in progress.

The Herald reports on community notices from Hardin County. George Devit is sick. Barnard finishes corn picking first. East Side Aid Society meets with Mrs. Draper. Mrs. Hole returns to Eldora after a three week visit with Jennie Whitney and will visit Marshalltown before returning to Minneapolis.
Lewis Van Patter is building a barn on the James Blair property. The Conklin sale last Friday was well attended and most of the property sold well. William Carr, Sr., came down from Minnesota last week to look after his farm interests here. Rev and Mrs Leisure and ten children were tendered a reception last Saturday at the home of Minerva Thayer in Ellis township. Miss Verna Whitney a student at Ellsworth College Iowa Falls spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents in this neighborhood. A little too much tanglefoot was in evidence among portion of the crowd at a recent sale and at times attracted more attention than the auctioneer. Corn husking is the order of the day but some fields are hardly fit to crib yet three and one half and four cents per bushel is the price paid to corn huskers. Henry Mossman a pioneer settler died at the home of his brother Arch last Thursday and the remains were interred Saturday in Pleasant cemetery.
Fine weather continues through the week as residents report travels to Iowa Falls Eldora and Steamboat Rock. Local activity includes threshing and corn picking, a Helping Club entertainment raising 21 dollars, and several visits among neighbors.
Sunday announcements note Presbyterian and Congregational services at usual morning hour with Rev. Stanley at Point Pleasant at 3 PM. Sabbath school at 12 15 PM. Evening sermon Called Without Warning. Misses Follette and Hall hosted ladies society. Churches unite for a soul winning campaign on December 31 with pastor led prep and evangelist support. Morning subject Soul winning Evening Past Feeling. Methodist holds usual services and poultry brought to New Store Wednesday.
