Obituary of Mrs Julina Thornton in Providence Township

Mrs Julina Thornton died at her Providence home on May 18 1905 and was buried May 20 at Honey Creek. Born Feb 15 1831 in Yadkin NC she was 74 years 3 months 3 days old. She joined Honey Creek Friends church and missionary society. Married to John Thornton on Feb 6 1851, she traveled to Iowa with 74 others arriving Sep 1 1851. Survived by seven children, husband, and a daughter gone before.

The Eldora special reports a grand organ dedication at the Iowa Industrial School for Boys with 500 pupils present. Ex Governor William Larrabee and wife funded the instrument, Gov Cummins unable to attend. John Cownie and Hon L G Kinne spoke, with Miss Ellis and Prof Enna performing. the school sent a collective letter of thanks to the donors.
