Whitten Fire Destroys Barnes Store and Other Buildings

Early Friday about 3 o clock a fire in Whitten consumed the M. L. Barnes & Son store building and contents now owned by Otis Blair, the Drury Meat Market, and Lord's Barber Shop. The origin traced to the meat market. insurance details incomplete. Losses threaten the village economy as replacement plans are considered.
