Sore throats and colds are common. P H Faris and wife visited C W Faris’s home Sunday. Miss Irene Lancaster visited Frank Clampitt. Mary entertained a class at a luncheon March 1 with about 22 attending. Evalyn McDonald closed the winter term. Will Cobb and son George left for Rossie after a two week visit. T R Cobb and children headed to Everly, stopping in Britt. School closed in Union township district No 7. Miss Florence McDonald led an entertainment with a full house.
Charley Heard invests in a Jersey cow and business trips, with Rowan, Nixon Knight, and family visiting. Mrs. Will Lathrop and Mrs. Snyderman travel to Iowa Falls, while Everett Krominga summer plans with C. M. Haas. Stautfer buys stock west of town and a church quarterly meeting led by Hitler Bock is announced. Lee Anderson ships cattle to Chicago. Peter Lepley and Polly Johnson are frail. Doty’s mother ill with pneumonia. A big market sale day features Congregational church dinner. Charlie Rattledge and two others involved.
Brothers arrive from North Carolina and Smith union meetings planned for April. Mrs. Sarah Sharp visits from Green Mountain. Charles Hann leaves for Marshalltown for machine shop work. Lizzie Tumphrey visits Liscomb with relatives. Ladies host a late supper at Will Sentman’s. social time follows. Sam Guilliland moves to a Grundy Center farm. Ruttledge family from NC to work for E. A. Rogers. Church considers hiring a minister. Rev. J. W. Eilis may stay. Dr. A. O. Willkins from Jennings Louisiana on ditching contract visit. One interment this winter, illness rising with Grandma Reed and others. Fraudulent cough cure advertisement included. The Herald promotes wedding and society invitations.
