Dam Crossing Ends With Narrow Escape For Two Men
A Quaker minister and a young man barely survived a boat going over Eagle City dam on the Iowa river. They borrowed Israel Doud’s boat, faced high swift current, capsized after the dam, and clung to the hull until rescuers pulled them to shore. The incident remains largely untold.
