The Iowa Normal Monthly commends Eldora public schools praising Superintendent Alvin Cavana for harmony and strong teamwork. It notes Cavana's lab devices and a unique programme clock he invented, with the entire system running smoothly under his leadership.
A fine framed portrait of E. W. Crockett was presented to Radiant Lodge A. F. and A. M. Friday evening by Messrs. J. C. and F. W. Crockett. It bears this inscription.
The article notes E W Crockett J W 1882 1883 Levy 1878 1881 and 1884 to May 29, honoring his service as mayor with a portrait to hang in the lodge room. It recalls his terms, including 1884 and a later stretch of eleven consecutive terms until his death May 29. The piece argues such memory guides public good as an investment yielding returns.
Miss Cora Trumbauer leaves Ackley with friends for a Monday journey to San Antonio Texas where she will marry M J Conley at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Conley home Their marriage follows years of courtship with Conley a Texas mail clerk and Trumbauer the Ackley post office assistant After a brief wedding trip they will live in Houston with plans for a weeklong visit with Conleys parents prior to settling in Houston.
The district court lists tomorrow and Friday dockets. Thursday features McBride versus Freedman and probate matters while Friday includes Cunda versus Lamprecht and Whit tier versus Iowa Central By. Co. The court notes have focused on equity causes and advertises subscription deals for The Chicago Daily Tribune and The Semi Weekly Herald at three dollars a year.

The Hardin County Iowa Board of Supervisors convened in Eldora on January 4 1909 with all members present and J C Jackson sworn in. Wm Wiemer was chosen chairman and tasks assigned including district designations and bonds for county officials. The board adjourned to January 5 and conducted drainage district bids, claims, and renewed the Hardin County Medical Association contract.
The Hardin County Board of Supervisors authorized bids for printing 300 copies of the 1908 Financial Report. Sealed bids due February 5, 1909, must state price per page and include four pages for the valuation and tax table. Proposals require quality paper and county auditor proofing, with right to reject all bids. Union meetings ended Sunday evening.

William Allen Jackson and Ethel P. Doud from Jackson township plan to wed while Eldon Moon and Anna Polley of Steamboat Rock are also named. Chas Sentman and Frieda Bilers, both of Steamboat Rock, appear in the notice with a 65 year reference.
A noon meeting in Hampton aims to salvage the Franklin County Agricultural Society by incorporating and reforming leadership. A loan will be sought to clear debts and fund a county fair, with hopes of restoring a lasting, profitable operation for Iowa’s agricultural tradition. Special church meetings also announced this week.
