Mrs N M Satchell of Oskaloosa stayed with Eldora relatives part of the week. F J McNeil and children Robbie and little daughter were in Boone part of the week. Earl Brooks of Minneapolis visited his mother and relatives. S B Gardner wife and daughter in Osage visiting. Mr and Mrs Swanson of St Paul stayed with Auditor and Mrs Vigare over Christmas. Sherm Boyer of Lake Park visited the old homestead of D W Boyer who has been ill.
Sunday announcements list morning services at various churches with a union worship at the Congregational church in the evening. Week of prayer events occur nightly January 3 to January 10 at multiple churches with varied sermon topics. Local notices mention visitors, staff movements, and teacher association meetings in Eldora and surrounding areas.

After a two day term at Nevada Judge Albrook returns home and will take a brief rest before opening the January term in Eldora on the 11th. The four weeks' term will then proceed.
Abbie Dojson born near Chatam Canada died in Eldora Iowa December 31 1908 at age 83. Married Thomas Winter in 1848 eight children born five living. Moved to Kewanee Illinois in 1856 then to Eldora to live with daughter Mrs Joe Frank after husband’s death six years ago. Funeral details note burial at old Kewanee home with Mrs Frank and Mrs Spoor of Mason City.
Sabbath morning tragedy in Point Pleasant as Mrs Valeeda Van Patter is found dead at home after years of asthma trouble. Nearly eighty, she was a longstanding Presbyterian member who contributed greatly to church and social welfare, sharing faith and charity with friends during a cherished Christmas gathering.
The Sons and Daughters of Old Sang to hold a banquet at the Eldora hotel on Saturday January 2 1909 at 8 p m to unite alumni and students of the university in Hardin County. Toasts include University of Yesterday and Today and duties of Alma Mater to the State. About a hundred alumni and students are expected to attend and sing old songs in town spirit.
At auction Friday January 8 on the Mossman farm twenty four miles north of Radcliffe forty one head of Duroc Jersey sows will be offered all good stock. Also offered a span of mares aged six and nine weighing about sixteen hundred to seventeen hundred pounds each. A L Mossman.
