Fatal Head-On Train Crash Near Town In Iowa
Early Tuesday morning a head-on collision on the Iowa Central Road north of town killed one engineer and severely injured two crew members. Engineer Willard died, fireman Bert Rodgers and lead brakeman Frank Shehan were injured. The missing engineer was not found for hours as wreckage burned. Negligence suspected as a two-section train led to the crash. Emergency hospital treated the injured and the line was diverted, delaying mail and passenger service to Steamboat Rock and Abbott.

Mrs Greef hosted last Tuesday’s gathering at their home for the Eldora lecture course committee. Attendees included Rev W J Stanley, Mr and Mrs Ellis D Robb, Rev and Mrs O B Chassell, Mr and Mrs J Edgar, and Mrs Jno T Boylan, with Prof Milo Hunt having resigned. The group enjoyed supper, reminiscences, and light humor, noting a treasury surplus over 100 dollars and the committee’s steady harmony. Mrs Jepsen's Mother Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs M K E Pierce, 71, mother of Mrs Geo J Jepsen, died at her daughter’s Tampico home on Tuesday morning after a short three day heart trouble. She had lived in Tampico, Illinois, but had been staying with her daughter in this city. Her remains were taken to Tampico for funeral services, accompanied by her daughter and Mr Jepsen. No further details available.

Deceased Noted Steamboat Rock Resident Frances Turner
Mrs Frances Turner wife of Bunker Turner of Steamboat Rock died at the family home after a two year illness. Born Green New York January 20 1848 she was sixty two. She lived in Steamboat Rock since 1873 and is survived by her husband son Harry cashier of Farmers Exchange Bank and daughter Nellie at home. Her death grieves the community.

Stricken Colonel Henderson Improves Slightly at Dubuque
Report from Dubuque Iowa on February 19 states Colonel Henderson, recently stricken with a brain hemorrhage that paralyzed his left side and impaired vision, shows gradual improvement. His wife and physicians report he is resting easier though prognosis remains cautious after a second stroke.

Mrs. F. M. Williams wife of prominent Iowa Falls attorney PF M Williams died Friday afternoon after a brief illness in Iowa Falls. She had been socially prominent and is survived by her husband and son Lee a college student at the State University. The family long resided in Dows before moving to Iowa Falls. Mr Williams has been the leading attorney in Iowa Falls since Judge Weaver's election to the district bench.
