Washington February sixth the House passed the McCumber pension bill already approved by the Senate. The measure, introduced by Senator McCumber, awaits presidential signing.
Mrs James known as Aunt Jane Walker died at her Des Moines home after weeks of illness at about 68. Her remains will travel to Eldora for interment and a Baptist church service on the coming Sunday at 11 a.m. Funeral and obituary will follow in next issue.

Col S L Taggart a Dubuque native died in Chicago leaving a record as Adjutant General of the Army of the Tennessee under McPherson and Howard. Born in New York seventy two years ago he settled in Cedar Falls and Dubuque and later served in Hancock Co and the pension office at Washington. He returned to Dubuque and later became Indian agent before moving to Chicago to spend his final days with his children. He leaves two daughters Mrs Nellie Wilson and Miss Jeanne Taggart of Chicago. The funeral was held at the Congregational church in Dubuque.
Congregational church announces morning sermon Faith and Its Effects and an evening course on the Psalms led by the pastor. Music will be good and an Endeavorers Valentine Social is Friday night the 16th. Methodist church holds all regular services next Sabbath with Will F Spry preaching morning on The World's Richest Men and evening on Who Are the Lost. Decision Day events postponed.
