Washington February sixth the House passed the McCumber pension bill already approved by the Senate. Aunt Jane Walker to be laid to rest in Eldora

Mrs James known as Aunt Jane Walker died at her Des Moines home after weeks of illness at about 68. Her remains will travel to Eldora for interment and a Baptist church service on the coming Sunday at 11 a.m. Funeral and obituary will follow in next issue.

Col Taggart Death Remains Dubuque Soldier Leader

Col S L Taggart a Dubuque native died in Chicago leaving a record as Adjutant General of the Army of the Tennessee under McPherson and Howard. Born in New York seventy two years ago he settled in Cedar Falls and Dubuque and later served in Hancock Co and the pension office at Washington. He returned to Dubuque and later became Indian agent before moving to Chicago to spend his final days with his children. He leaves two daughters Mrs Nellie Wilson and Miss Jeanne Taggart of Chicago. The funeral was held at the Congregational church in Dubuque.
