The court hears Winter arraignment as he pleads not guilty. Rogers of Eldora and Roberts of Ackley were appointed as counsel after the prisoner asked for legal help. Grand jury returned an indictment and the packed courtroom followed a dramatic murder trial progressing through testimony as the defense cites an impulse defense while prosecutors finish their case. The trial plan sought a Monday verdict pending jury deliberations.
In Iowa the Walter L. Weaver case was halted after defense motions alleging insufficient evidence and a defective indictment. Mrs HENMAN DREIER born August 10 1817 in Osmersen Lippe Germany entered into test at Hubbard Iowa January 22 1804 at age six years twelve days married twice first to Christopher Muhlenbein 1873 death second to Herman Dreier 1874 nine surviving children ten total with eleven including husband and seventeen grandchildren. Funeral at Point Pleasant Chapel Rev W E Stanley Eldora officiating. Burial at Point Pleasant Cemetery. Describes her as noble Christian woman beloved by family and community.
