Veterans Rites Mark Civil War Soldier Burial in Eldora
John Henry Williams a Civil War veteran of E C Buckner Post 157 died at his Eldora residence Saturday December 17 born September 20 1840 in Shelby county Indiana. He served from Eldora in Company F 32d Iowa and fought at Cape Girardeau Little Rock Fort Rus say Pleasant Ridge Nashville and Mobile. He married Elsie Simpson May 3 1866 and had three children Anna Lela Pearl Floyd. Funeral held at Baptist church Monday at 2 pm Rev W E Stanley and Rev G B Shoemaker officiated with G A R ritual at the cemetery. David McGee of Eldora died December 17 1904 at the soldier s home Marshalltown born Mercer county Kentucky March 17 1823. Survived by Susan M Doane and Mrs Lida Petrie and one son William S McGee. Funeral held at the soldier s home Monday with Chaplain Jesse Cole. Dr B E Purcell at Emergency hospital December 13-27

Alden R Barnstable is seriously ill with pneumonia. Snow shovels were out in full force Saturday and found plenty to do. Mrs A G Wood has recovered enough to visit friends uptown. Mrs Addie Whitney cared for the young daughter at the N Lawton home. The Congregational society regrets that Rev Lambly will resign and depart. Local business changes keep residents busy. Congregational ladies held two well attended entertainments with a fancy work booth handmade candies supper and a pleasing program and a nice Bum realized.
