Local Happenings column notes Christmas dinner at Hotel Winchester offered for 40c with advance notice requested. Menu lists olives, soups, roasts, sides, desserts and drinks. Also mentions Christmas exercises at Christian church with Sunday School program and Christmas tree, inviting all to attend.
The Cornell College Glee Club and Orchestra performed at the M E Church for Eldora high school library fund. The concert featured fine readings by Miss Lewis and strong choruses, quartets, and cellists with encores repeated. Receipts support the library fund and a portion goes to the New school. Hats at cost advertised by Mrs Vagy.
Henry Breuning, former engineer at Eldora’s electric light plant and later Ackley light plant manager, died in a Tacoma streetcar accident on Friday. He had moved to Washington three years earlier with his family, worked with street car lines and electric contracting, and was killed while in service. He is survived by his wife and two children and was the brother of S. D. Breuning, Ackley’s postmaster.
