Southern Illinois Studies Forest Conditions for Policy
Southern Illinois undertakes a statewide study of forest health and timber supply to shape a forest policy. Investigations cover Ozark region in Johnson County, Williamson County mining timber pressures, Illinois River timber flows, and forest land taxation. A borers outbreak in southern forests prompts a special probe. Dr. Forbes and the State Biological Survey lead with Forest Service collaboration.
