The Herald reports a bustling four day span in Eldora and Hardin County with notices on Arbor Day planting April 29 and April 20. It notes potato prices from 1.26 to 1.40 a bushel, civic events, Odd Fellows attendance at a funeral, late mail, garden plans, upcoming home construction, and local business updates including a new cigar manufactory and hardware stock transfer.
A rural town record lists visitors and locals in a flowing parade of names. J S Hardin spends Sunday out of town while Bert Gardner visits Marshalltown and John Johnston visits Waterloo. Reports from the bedside of Jas Buchanan show little improvement and no clear gain. Eldora's Herald warns town readers to look for local news there, as farmers finish spring work about ten days late. A funeral at New Providence for O K Miller drew Eldora area attendees, while Miller & Son creditors met in Eldora. A new Xenia Independent district schoolhouse will be built near Eldora this summer, with bids being sought.
Republican primaries to select delegates for Eldora City township county convention to be held April 26 1904 in Eldora. Polls open 2 PM to 7 PM at multiple locations including basement court house Sand Rudge school house Pleasant Center school house and Owasa. Committeemen Tom C Meader W A Fenton and Daniel Starr announce duties.
A Republican caucus will be held in the basement of the courthouse on Friday evening April 22 1904 at 7 30 to choose nineteen delegates to appear at the primary April 23 1904 then to attend the county convention at Eldora April 26 1904 A red hot smoker will be held at the lodge room April 21 all invited By Oniper Committee
Sheriff J M Davis of Mt Ary North Carolina arrived in Providence with a requisition and took Charles Moody alias FTub from the local jail. Moody charged with murder in his home state claims self defense and fears lynching upon reaching the scene. Dr B E Purcell will practice ENT at Emergency hospital on April 5 and 19.
Advertises opportunities for mercantile locations and professional practices near the Chicago Great Western Railway. Promises maps, leaflets, and information from industrial agent W. J. Reed at 604 Endicott Building, St. Paul Minnesota. The Herald urges readers to consider today’s advertising ship.

An obituary for Colonel Micajah Peyton born January 1 1841 in Clark County Indiana who died April 17 1904 at age 63 in Eldora Iowa. Civil War veteran sharpshooter with the 20th Illinois Infantry later active in Grand Army of the Republic and Odd Fellows. Survived by wife Sarah Benedict and two daughters Caroline Winchester and Josephine. funeral at M E Church with G A R and Odd Fellows in attendance.
A church service honored Comrade and Commander Peyton with a quartet anthem and eulogies by Rev. Shoemaker and Rev. W. E. Stanley. Hon. W. J. Moir spoke for Odd Fellows, followed by a short sermon and closing words. Burial occurred near It east of town, with profuse floral tributes and condolences to his wife and children. The Herald notes wall atlases offered to subscribers with arrears paid. Also ad for Re-Go Tonic Laxative Syrup sold by Wilson Drug Co.
W M Satchell endorses neighbor and friend L in a letter urging support for his candidacy for county Recorder in the Republican primary. The author praises L’s honesty upright business sense and Christian character and urges readers to vote for him. The note closes with a sign off as the friend of W M Satchell and a weather note about approaching spring.
