Washington reports after a Bryan meeting that Wilson backs a provisional government for Mexico. Huerta's successors are to be chosen by constitutionalists with Villa Gonzales and Obregon vying for leadership as mediation advances.
Charles Pace, detained Tuesday night by Night Chief John Kaiser, admitted selling electric light globes without a license and received 30 days in the county jail. Police tied the haul to stolen church globes, prompting a further theft case leading to a November criminal court term. Pace faced a state warrant. bond set at 5000, and other locals were fined or given warnings for drunkenness and speeding on motorcycles.
Urban, chair of the Pettis finance subcommittee, asks Sedalia firms and the public to send small subscriptions to cover festival expenses at the Missouri state fair grounds. A list of contributors is published, with several $2.50 to $5.00 entries noted, as the preparations aim to provide ample entertainment for guests.
W N Thornton, after five years with Purbaugh and Allen Furniture Co and as a stockholder, sold his stake to L C Purbaugh and resigned. He left for Springfield to enter general merchandise in his father-in-law J Wilson’s store. Mrs. Thornton will join him soon. John Bockelman, Sedalia High School class of 1914 graduate, takes Thornton’s place.
A Wednesday night ice cream social on the Sacred Heart church parochial lawn raised 35 dollars. Rev. Fr. B. J. Condon attended, renewing friendships before leaving for Carthagena Seminary and teaching at Collegeville Indiana. A coat theft report involves W. J. Gold of 1195 West Third Street and his son City Clerk W. E. Gold.
The Sedalia Amusement Committee pledges a free day of high class entertainment for Pettis county’s July 4 celebration. A daylight fireworks display will illuminate the sky with Old Glory, and all events are free with attendees bringing their own meals and horse feed if needed. Safety and enjoyment are prioritized for up to 20,000 visitors at the fairgrounds.

About 125 members of the Sunday school from the First Congregational church rode to Thatcher's ford for the annual picnic. They enjoyed wading, fishing, boating, games, and a large basket dinner, with supper planned before returning at twilight. Local 22 AFM met and voted to contribute 40 dollars to free open air concerts at Liberty park. two applications were received and Irwin Brinjes was reinstated.
A July 4 event at Oak Grove three miles north of Lookout, two miles south of Postal and half a mile east of Memorial church invites all. The program features dancing a doll rack, music by the Darlings band, two ball games Lookout No 1 versus Longwood and Lookout No 2 versus the German team, plus refreshments.
John Shafer transfer man had a family outing when the car ran out of gasoline on a hill near Georgetown. After stopping at J B Johnson’s to refill, brakes failed and the vehicle rolled down the grade into a ditch. All occupants escaped unharmed and were later aided by J B Johnson and Shafer Transfer trucks.
Dr. T. M. Bayler, formerly with the United States Bureau of Animal Industry as assistant to Dr. Ralph Graham, is now in Pettis County and left Thursday for Kankakee Illinois to assist Dr. B. J. Caddy in similar work in the same field.
At noon workers from both Kansas City areas met at a hotel to bid farewell to seven comrades convicted in dynamite plot cases. The men, cheerful, are heading to Leavenworth penitentiary to begin their sentences.
Paul Barnett assistant prosecuting attorney has accepted an invitation to deliver an address at Lincoln Missouri during the Fourth of July celebration to be held there.
Farm adviser S M Jordan becomes owner and operator of a Ford, using the car to reach three farms in different directions in a single day without incidents. The new auto will triple service compared to using his mare Betsie, keeping Pettis County ahead of peers in farm advising.
Joseph Reed of the Third National Bank is confined at home at 323 North Prospect Avenue with a threatened typhoid fever attack. He is under the care of Dr. Charles McNeil.
Announcement notes the marriage of Miss Pearl Hocker of Sedalia to Mr. George W. Farmer of Higgins Texas. They wed June 21 at the home of Cyrus and Mrs. Helm in Ivanhoe Oklahoma, with Mrs. Helm as bride’s sister. The bride, a longtime operator for Home Telephone, will live with the groom’s parents in Higgins Texas.
Theodore Roosevelt arrives from Europe and announces he will not seek the New York governorship this fall. He plans to speak indoors in Pittsburgh on June 30 and defends George W. Perkins amid calls for Perkins resignation.
El Paso reports Zacatecas, central Mexico, fell to the constitutionalists at sunset Tuesday after four days of fighting. Villa’s forces took many prisoners and seized arms while suffering heavy losses. reports put federal casualties at about four thousand killed or wounded and rebels with significant, but unspecified, losses.
Harry H. Wilkinson, blacksmith at the Missouri Pacific shops, underwent an appendicitis operation Thursday morning at the M K T railway hospital. Though very weak, he stood the procedure well and rested fairly well in the afternoon.
Sedalia White Sox arrange a game with Leeton Mo strong representative team to be played at Leeton on Saturday and Sunday June 27 and 28. Ty Cobb fined fifty dollars in Detroit after pleading guilty to disturbing the peace.
Sedalia relatives are advised of a daughter's birth at the home of Mr and Mrs James Berry in Houston Texas. Mrs Berry formerly Nell Carroll of Sedalia. Sponsors were Mr and Mrs Edward Kennedy, longtime Sedalians.
Clement Jones of the Longwood neighborhood came home Wednesday after selling a carload of fat cattle in St Louis the day before Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs James Amos of Twentieth street and Beacon avenue announce the birth of a son at their home a few days ago.
Arthur Schroeder, about 17, pleaded guilty to grand larceny in circuit court before Special Judge G W Barnett. He received a three year penitentiary sentence with parole and a $100 bond for appearance. The case cites thefts of 109 dollars from J H Mertz drug store in June and 69 dollars on May 1. no action on the latter. Schroeder was arrested by the police and held to criminal court by Judge Samuel C Fuller.
Recorder Walter Morey issued licenses to John W. Smith of Houstonia and Mrs. Anna Young of Sedalia. Roy Carpenter and Carrie M. Wilson of Bowen, Missouri, also received licenses.
