The administration has decided to suspend the debate on the ship purchase bill amid broader governance tensions. No immediate vote or timetable for resumption was announced, leaving the proposal in limbo as officials explore alternatives.
President Wilson and congressional leaders agreed to ease Senate resistance by letting the ship purchase bill die in committee. Gore will offer a substitute as a House amendment to Weeks bill, aiming to present a new measure to the Senate. The president may call an extra session if needed, advisers split on the course.

Theodore Schwartz received an iron cross as outgoing commander.
A. C. Nunnelle, living near Sweeney, was severely burned when his self built cabin caught fire from a stove. He entered the burning hut to rescue wood, the roof collapsed trapping him. He received medical care Thursday morning, with burns to his lower limbs described as mortal danger by Dr. Monroe.
Chicago February 6 Mayor Harrison issued a proclamation urging citizens to contribute a half million dollars for the unemployed. The fund would be administered by the industrial commission and used exclusively to create work.
Joseph Paget, who lived north of Beaman, lost the index finger of his left hand while helping Ben Greer saw logs on Greer’s property. He slipped as he fed a log into the saw, received medical aid, and traveled to Sedalia Thursday morning for further treatment from Dr. F. B. Long.
A marriage license was issued in Kansas City on Wednesday to Dave Coffman aged 26 of Kansas City and Miss Charlotte Hollingsworth aged 19 of Sedalia for a ceremony to be held there.
The Murray & Schmidt Produce Company described as ensuring buildings remain in use and not idle, signaling continued operations and ongoing activity at their facilities.
The American Produce Company of Missouri has leased the former Murray and Schmidt Produce Co. buildings and will open immediately. Al Adams of Boonville backs the venture with S. E. Murray also involved. eastern capitalists and Chicago investors join. The capital stock is 25000 dollars and Adams will move with his family to Sedalia to run the business.
Justice of the Peace James Connor found a $20 bill on stairs at the Johnston clothing store while descending to his office. Johnnie Quinn was nearby. authorities note Quinn had dropped the bill moments earlier while searching for it.

Ladies served sandwiches pickles and coffee after. Sedalian attendees aiding initiators were Dr. W. M. Wheeler W. W. Blain James Rogers and L. F. Ritchie.
The Broadway school Parent Teachers Association will meet Friday at 3 30 p m to discuss vocational topics. Miss Collins will speak on Sedalia school work Prof Warren on manual training in grade schools and county work outside Sedalia Miss Mildred Henton will outline county efforts A social half hour will follow. both fathers and mothers urged to attend.
Walter Gibbons Kansas City Life Insurance manager handed Mrs. Katie Golhofer a $5,000 check Thursday afternoon. The sum represented the life policy on the late C. A. Golhofer and was paid in full.
J W Higgins of the Missouri Pacific told the federal arbitration board in Chicago on February 11 that modern rules still echo pioneer days. He cited preparatory time and terminal delays and a rule exempting engineers from running between roundhouse and train, saying its cost to the road was 256,596 in 1914. He noted the rule’s persistence despite changes in conditions.

L H Seaver of Elsworth Kansas, son of the late Rev W R Seaver, former pastor of Sedalia's First Congregational church, visited Sedalia Thursday morning. He recalled three people from his youth, noting his father died in Elsworth, Kansas fifteen years ago and that Nell Seaver and another son live in California.
Charlie Baker is in Detroit. C. E. Baker, former Sedalia city clerk, now located in Detroit Michigan, holds a splendid position with a large rubber house.
The Wilhelmina cargo of foodstuffs bound for Germany was seized by British authorities and sent to the prize court as contraband of war. The U S State Department says the case will follow its normal course to a prize court with representation by St Louis commission house owners and possibly the owners, while Washington will monitor proceedings for diplomatic guidance.
J A Gilmore president of the Federal league confirms Kansas City will not be represented next year due to insufficient funds to finance the club. The telegram cites inability of local supporters to raise money and the approaching season as reasons. Directors plan an afternoon meeting to try to retain the league in Kansas City.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Haggard hosted a dinner six miles west of the city on Wednesday for friends and neighbors. Honored guest Mrs. Thomas of Illinois visited her daughter Mrs. George Millard. attendees included Mrs. E. B. Reed, Mrs. Hinton Gorrell, Mrs. Van Gorrell and son George Hinton, Mrs. A. L. Haggard of Sedalia and her daughter Mrs. Corinne Hag ard Taylor, formerly of Los Angeles. The warm day ended with guests praising the Haggards as royal entertainers.
Chicago reports Newark likely to replace Kansas City in the Federal league after President Gilmore’s east return. Plans for transfer were already furnished, with an oilman backing the club to ensure its move. Gilmore would not confirm Newark or Jersey City as the destination.
Constable W. W. Bolton departed by the M. K. T. train No 10 Thursday afternoon for Boonville Missouri with Houston and Waldo Wombles brothers aged 10 and 12 to place them in the boys reformatory at Boonville They were not charged with a serious crime but authorities believed they would have a good home There the boys consented and Bolton would return to Sedalia early Friday morning.
The Queen City hive No 7 of the Ladies of the Maccabees installed officers in Woodmen-Macabee hall with Mrs Mae A C Sommers of St Louis as installing officer. Out of town visitors District Deputies Elizabeth Sanford of Mexico and Rebecca Pierce of Sikeston assisted. Three applications were balloted and a class of thirteen initiated. A luncheon followed the social hour.
